In the seemingly intractable conflict in Israel and Palestine, the discourse has become increasingly polarized. In this time of war, it is essential to hear other, perhaps quieter, voices. Israeli and Palestinian women have come together since 2014 under the movement Women Wage Peace to demand a negotiated political solution and insist on women’s inclusion in peacemaking. They are the warriors of peace, relentlessly working top-down and bottom-up for a political resolution to the conflict first and challenging the barriers that prevent the advancement of peace. With their concrete advocacy and actions, they aim to radically change the way in which life and death decisions are taken in their country.

Come meet the representatives of Women Wage Peace and Women of the Sun in this exceptional appearance in Brussels. They will discuss political alternatives, the role of women in peacemaking, and their interconnectedness in finding a peaceful, common future.

The Salon is preceded by the screening of the documentary Les Guerrières de la paix / Warriors of Peace by filmmaker Hanna Assouline. It traces the birth and growth of the movement, today encompassing thousands of women across different political backgrounds and origins.

ABOUT

Women Wage Peace is the largest peace movement in Israel (40,000 members) led by Jewish and Arab Israeli women from all political backgrounds and origins. Since 2014, these women have been campaigning for the simple yet audacious idea that their leaders meet again around a negotiating table to achieve a political solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. They are the silent warriors of peace, regularly joining forces in major peace marches. Together with Palestinian sister organisation Women of the Sun they have been jointly nominated for the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize and listed by The Times magazines as Women of the Year.
